Jal-tarang as the name suggests it is related to water waves. When we hit the cup with a stick or finger, water waves are produced due to vibrations in the cup. These vibrations travel through water in the cups and after striking with the surface of the cup, these vibrations produce sound.

Very few artists are performing this art form now and hence we conducted this event at Sumbaran to motivate them and keep this art form alive.
